Frequently Asked Questions
Why has the price you are willing to pay for my pieces changed since I last spoke to you?
The prices we pay are based on the amount of precious metals you have for sale and the current spot price for those metals.Precious metals are internationally traded commodities. Their prices, known as spot prices, are determined by the supply and demand on global markets. The prices we pay are derived from these markets, so when global prices change, our do too.
What Is a Troy Ounce?
The Troy ounce is an old empirical unit of measure. Today the Troy ounce is most commonly used as a measure of the mass of precious metals. 1 Troy ounce is equal to 31.1035 grams.
How do you test the purity of my pieces?
We use state-of-art technology to test the amount of pure precious metals in your pieces. Our XRF scientific unit analyses the spectrum of light reflected from your item to calculate the purity of the metal. This technique is non-invasive and does not damage your piece in any way. It simply points a beam of light at your item and analysis its reflection.
My pieces are scratched or damaged. Will this reduce the value of my items?
We evaluate your items based only on their metal content and weight. The appearance of your items will not affect the amount we are willing to pay for them.
Will you return the diamonds or other stones in my jewellery?
We will remove any diamonds or other stones in your jewellery and return them to you. You can choose to sell your items with or without the stones in them.
