Swiss gold exports to the U.S. fall 99% in August, but rise 353% to China after tariff shock
(Kitco News) – Switzerland’s bullion exports to the United States plummeted in August after a shock customs ruling imposed tariffs on gold bars, according to the latest Swiss customs data published Thursday.Gold exports to the U.S. nearly stopped altogether during the month, with the customs data showing shipments from Switzerland dropping over 99% to only 0.3 tonnes in August compared to July’s figures.
